WellDog passes operational milestone, leads industry in supplying reservoir monitoring systems
Laramie, Wyoming (22 January 2015) – WellDog announced today that it has installed over 1,500 downhole reservoir monitoring systems since 2010, making it one of the largest installers of such systems in the world.
WellDog’s reservoir monitoring systems are used extensively by coal seam gas, shale gas and oil, coal mining, and conventional oil and gas operators for a variety of purposes, ranging from optimizing production rates to protecting downhole pumps and reservoirs from damage to evaluating completion connectivity between formations and wells.
“We’ve reached this milestone with a remarkably high installation success rate as well,” said John M. Pope, Ph.D., president and CEO of WellDog. “This achievement is a result of WellDog’s staff working hard and working responsibly every day for four years. As a result of their efforts, operators have been able to produce more resources, more quickly, and with greater economic and environmental sustainability.”
WellDog recently expanded its market-leading PressureTuner and AquaTracker products in Australia to launch the WatchDog product in the US for onshore shale and conventional oil and gas operators. The systems operate by providing downhole pressure and temperature data that is critical to optimizing production operations. WellDog custom designs, builds, and installs systems for each operator’s needs and specifications.
COO James Walker is optimistic about the company’s US shale market entry despite the recent decline in oil prices. “Our shale customers have needed better and more reliable downhole data for a long time,” said Walker. “Our experience in cost competitive, high volume industries like coal seam gas and coal mining has taught us to deliver reliable data in high volume at the lowest costs possible. That capability is exactly what our shale customers need right now as they work to compete in the global market.
